About Sarah Renz

Sarah Renz is a music educator and bassist from the Greater Philadelphia Area. Sarah is a classically trained musician, starting her music career with piano lessons at the age of 8 years old. Sarah’s first experience with strings was on cello at the age of 9.

In 2017, Sarah made the switch from cello to double bass after having an incredible experience at the West Chester University Jazz Journey Workshop that summer. Once she switched to double bass, she started studying under the direction of Peter Paulsen in 2018. She grew so fond of bass that she decided to pursue a career in music education and ultimately received her Bachelor's  Degree in Music Education from West Chester University in May, 2023. Sarah is currently employed at Oxford Area School District teaching middle grades string orchestra.

Sarah has an extensive performance resume given her age. Sarah has been sitting in and performing with various jazz groups and pit orchestras all over the Philadelphia area, ranging from Kennett Brewing Company in Kennett Square, PA, to the Tatnall School in Wilmington, DE. Sarah has performed as a part of the pit orchestra for over a dozen musicals in the area.
